The flexure strength of EPS geofoam is a useful indicator of manufactured quality. Flexure strength of the final product is directly related to the fusion between individual pre-puffs. A "Flex Test" is commonly performed by the manufacturer as part of the quality control procedure. Minimum flexural strength values for different densities of EPS are given in ASTM C-578 and the generic EPS geofoam specification.
