NA-00  Point Loading to Determine Stress Bulb

Test carried out on instrumented blocks to investigate the actual pressure distribution within the EPS geofoam blocks. Three pressure transducers are installed into a metal frame that will hold a 24-inch cubic block and the block is molded embedding the pressure transducers. Point load was applied and pressure contours within the blocks were obtained. It is observed that the pressure was as low as 50% of the applied pressure at a depth of 4-inches from the loading point and 10% at the depth of 16-inches.
